MoonPay has officially secured approval under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, allowing it to operate compliant crypto-payment services across Europe. The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) granted the license, marking a significant milestone for MoonPay as it aims to expand its European presence amidst increasing demand for crypto solutions.

CEO Ivan Soto-Wright emphasized that this approval reflects the company's commitment to proactive regulatory engagement and its goal of bridging traditional finance with the crypto ecosystem. He noted that this achievement is crucial in solidifying cryptocurrency's role in the global economy.

The MiCA framework establishes a unified regulatory environment for digital assets, prioritizing consumer protection and market integrity. With the full implementation of MiCA now in effect, MoonPay plans to leverage this regulatory clarity to explore innovative payment solutions and digital asset applications.

This move comes as MoonPay reportedly discusses acquiring Helio Pay, a crypto payment provider, for around $150 million. If finalized, this acquisition would be MoonPay's largest since its inception in 2018, further enhancing its position in the market.
